"To create art is to play with magic." John Ellis over a thirty year period of working in the arts is still creating new ways of connecting to people through his design and art skills. Ellis' studio is located in Ballarat, and it is here in this amazing space that he has created one of Australia's most exciting new art exports with "The Ouree Marionette" performing group. "For me being an artist is an adventure in telling stories. Whether I build a building, paint a picture, photograph an environment, or create a marionette, the work builds pathways I feel compelled to follow. To experience and to create Art is to feel the passion and the love, for the world we live in."

I am a practicing artist and designer. I have most recently used these skills establishing 'The Muse Studios' and 'Curious Traveller' . I am highly creative and inventive and have produced four key properties, which I have designed and built. I am highly skilled and trained in communications and visual presentations. As a teacher I am trained in all the recent views on human psychology thinking and learning.

I want now to synthesize my knowledge and life experiences into new and exciting ventures that will develop my networks and means of research so that I can ultimately create positive shifts in the culture. And while I am a person who positively looks forward I am however extremely proud of my past and especially the years spent working for the education department.

I have over the years developed many contacts within the arts and I will be extending my mentoring skills to help establish young artists to find their professional confidence and direction.

My knowledge encompasses all aspects of music, performing arts, media, culture, visual arts, industrial crafts, architecture, engineering and I seek to unite these various elements into art works which build a new understanding of the world.

The Italians call it 'andor-per-le-fodore' - reaching hidden places by following secret pathways. This heightens a persons sense of discovery and expectation. We call it curiosity - finding the unexpected, tucked away in a little spot a couple of steps off a main pathway and it drives us to create the excitement in your travel, learning and accommodation needs.

The Muse studio, create art and explore all methods with fun and a sense of light hearted joy. The great masters will never seem more accessable than in  the atmosphere of this great studio.
